Job summary

TravelNurseSource is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN in Joplin, Missouri to provide comprehensive care during labor, delivery and postpartum with a 14-week contract. The RN will collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists and neonatal teams to ensure safe, compassionate care for mothers and newborns.

Responsibilities include monitoring labor progress, administering medications, assisting with deliveries, postpartum care and breastfeeding support, along with thorough documentation and patient

Qualifications

• RN/Labor & Delivery specialization requires licensure.
• BLS certification and competency exam completed.
• L&D experience or training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-labor and admission assessments with histories, vitals and physical exams.
• Monitor labor progress, fetal/maternal status, medications and pain management.
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections, newborn care.
• Provide postpartum care and breastfeeding support to mother and neonate.
• Document assessments, interventions and progress in EHR; ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists and neonatal team for individualized care.
• Maintain infection control and ensure sterile equipment and devices.
• Recognize obstetric emergencies and escalate care per protocol.
• Educate patients and families about labor, delivery options and newborn care.
