Job summary

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Labor and Delivery RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Reston, VA. The role involves direct obstetric patient care, postpartum support, and collaboration with the care team. Night shifts are required and 36 hours per week are anticipated.

Required qualifications include 1 year of L&D RN experience, active RN license in VA, BLS and NRP certifications. The position offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits through Fusion Medical Staffing-Nursing.

Qualifications

• One year of recent Labor and Delivery RN experience.
• Valid RN license in accordance with state regulations.
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC) required.
• NRP certification required.

Responsibilities

• Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per obstetric nursing techniques.
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during labor and delivery.
• Provide immediate postpartum care for mother and newborn.
• Educate patients on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding and newborn care.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists and neonatologists.
• Respond to obstetric emergencies using evidence-based protocols.
• Document care accurately in the medical record.
• Participate in quality improvement to improve outcomes.
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results.
• Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures.
