The RN Inpatient Care Coordinator will review records and coordinate care across teams to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness. The role requires a BSN and AK RN license, 3+ years in inpatient care coordination or discharge planning, and strong familiarity with medical terminology and coding

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing and active AK RN license.
• 8 years of clinical care experience, 3+ in chart review, risk management, or quality service.
• 3 years of inpatient care coordination or discharge planning experience.
• Knowledge of medical records for medical necessity, level of care, and payer reimbursement basics.

Responsibilities

• Review patient records and care plans to ensure high-quality, cost-effective care.
• Coordinate care with physicians, leadership, care teams, patients and families; support discharge planning and utilization management.
• Manage documentation, appeals, notifications, quality reviews and billing-related communication.

POSITION SUMMARY

– RN Inpatient Care Coordinator

POSITION DUTIES

• Reviews patient records, hospitalization status, and treatment plans to ensure appropriate, high-quality, and cost-effective care while maintaining compliance with regulatory and payer requirements. Collaborates with physicians, leadership, care teams, patients, and families to coordinate care, support utilization management, discharge planning, and healthcare benefit education. Manages documentation, appeals, notifications, quality reviews, billing-related communication, and tumor registry functions to support organizational and clinical improvement efforts.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• – Bachelor’s Degree in NursingAK RN licenseBLS8 years’ clinical care or nursing experience, 3 years of which should be in chart review, risk management, or related quality service3 years of inpatient care coordination discharge planning experienceKnowledge of Conducting and reviewing medical records for medical necessity, level of care, and public and private insurance reimbursement.Basic ICD-9 and CPT coding.Regulations as set forth by The Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services.Proficient in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and concepts of disease.

• Case Management certification by recognized certifying organization
