Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Cardiac Cath Lab travel assignment requiring interventional Cath Lab experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

The role features 12-hour shifts (0630–1900) in a Level II Trauma Center CVR unit with on-call duties and comprehensive benefits. Travelers welcome, housing and licensure support provided.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (AL or compact) required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of interventional Cath Lab experience required (diagnostic-only not accepted)
• Experience with groin site management and radial band management (VascBand)
• Moderate sedation, drip titration, and emergency drug administration experience
• Ability to use defibrillator/pacer and recognize rhythm changes
• Ventilator alarms familiarity (vent experience not required)

Responsibilities

• Work in a 4-room CV/ cath lab unit in a Level II Trauma Center
• 12-hour day shifts 0630-1900 (three 12-hour shifts/week)
• See approximately 20-25 patients per day
• Care for STEMI/NSTEMI, LHC/RHC, CHF, Angina, ACS, Afib, IABP/Impella, CTOs, staged/protected PCI
• Exposure to EP, vascular, PE, and hybrid/structural procedures
• Patients not moved to ICU post-procedure go to CVR area
• Use Cerner EMR, XPER hemodynamic, IntellaSpace PACS, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell
• Possible float to IR or CVR; on-call weekends, weekday nights
• On-call response time within 30 minutes
• Daytime transporter available; travelers receive orientation

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Cardiac Cath Lab role requiring interventional Cath Lab experience and an active AL or compact RN license.

Requirements

• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of interventional Cath Lab experience required (diagnostic-only experience not accepted)
• Experience with groin site management, radial band management (VascBand), moderate sedation, drip titration, and emergency drug administration
• Ability to use defibrillator/pacer efficiently and recognize rhythm changes
• Comfortable addressing ventilator alarms, though vent experience is not required

Responsibilities

• Work in a 4-room Cardiovascular/Cath Lab (CVR) unit within a Level II Trauma Center with a Level III NICU and Primary Stroke Center
• 12-hour day shifts scheduled 0630-1900, working three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hrs/week)
• See approximately 20-25 patients per day
• Patient population includes STEMI/NSTEMI, LHC/RHC, CHF, Angina, ACS, Afib, IABP/Impella, CTOs, staged/protected PCI, pericardiocentesis, and temp pacers
• Exposure to EP, vascular, PE, and hybrid/structural procedures, though prior experience in these is not required
• Patients not transferring to ICU post-procedure are moved to the Cardiovascular Recovery (CVR) area
• Uses Cerner EMR, XPER hemodynamic monitoring system, IntellaSpace PACS, Plum 360 IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
• Possible floating to Interventional Radiology (IR) or CVR, though prior experience in those areas is not required
• Weekend on-call rotation every 4th weekend (Friday end-of-shift through Monday at 0630)
• Weekday on-call responsibilities approximately one night per week, plus possibly one late shift per week
• On-call response time requirement of 30 minutes, with call rooms available
• Support on the unit includes a Cath Lab Coordinator/Supervisor, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, 24/7 Hospitalist, on-call Cardiologist, and RRT/Code Team
• Daytime transporter available, though RNs will take patients to the recovery area themselves
• Travelers new to the facility or returning after 1+ years will receive 24 hours of classroom orientation plus 1-3 shifts of unit orientation
• Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per contract
• Green hospital scrubs provided
• Parking available in a parking deck
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Former perm staff must wait 6 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
• Time off requests require manager approval
