Job summary

Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Travel Registered Nurse for the Advanced Heart Failure Unit. The position is a 14-week assignment on the night shift as a temporary full-time role with a pay rate of $75.00/hr.

Required: 2+ years of acute cardiac RN experience, licensed in Virginia or a compact state, and BLS/ACLS certifications. The AHFU focuses on severe heart failure, transplant care, and pulmonary hypertension with 24-bed capacity.

Qualifications

• Must have 2+ years of recent acute cardiac hospital RN experience.
• Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS certifications.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for 3–4 cardiac patients per shift.
• Interpret and respond to cardiac rhythms; titrate medications as needed with hemodynamic monitoring.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to support advanced heart failure care.
• Utilize advanced bedside monitoring systems and high-tech equipment.

Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Advanced Heart Failure Unit

Seeking Travel RNs with the following:

• Demonstrated experience in cardiac care, including working with patients in telemetry, step-down, or critical care settings.
• Proficient in interpreting cardiac rhythms, including identification of arrhythmias and understanding their clinical significance.
• Solid foundational knowledge of appropriate nursing interventions for various cardiac conditions, including emergency response protocols and medication administration.

Education

• Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required

Certification/Licensure

• Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• ACLS
• NIH Stroke Scale

Experience

• Must have 2 or more years of recent acute care Cardiac hospital RN experience

Advanced Heart Failure Unit (AHFU) Overview:

The AHFU is a 24-bed high-acuity cardiac care unitspecializing in the treatment of patients with:

• Severe heart failure
• Pre- and post-heart transplant care
• Pulmonary hypertension

While Ventricular Assist Device (VAD)and transplant experience are not required, opportunities exist for nurses who are eager to expand their cardiac skill setin these areas.

• Nurses work with advanced bedside monitoring systemsand other high-tech equipment.
• For candidates with previous ICU experience, there are opportunities to titrate intravenous medicationsbased on hemodynamic monitoring.
