Job Overview

American Traveler is seeking a travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a 13‑week night shift contract at an acute care hospital in Austin, Texas.

Assignment Details

• Start Date: 07/06/2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Hours: 36 hours per week (3x12‑hour nights)
• Shift: Night shift, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Scope of Work

• Perform respiratory therapy services for adult patients, including nebulizers, chest physiotherapy, arterial blood gases, ventilator management, inhaled nitric oxide, bronchoscopy assistance, intubation assistance, and transporting mechanically ventilated patients within the hospital.
• Work in a department staffed with approximately 50 respiratory therapy professionals, with 7–9 staff and 1 supervisor per shift.
• Manage an adult patient population with roughly 35–40 patients per shift.
• Use equipment such as GE ventilators, V60 BiPAPs, and Airvo High‑Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).
• Document patient data in Meditech EMR.
• Experience rotating weekends with approximately four weekend shifts per month; no on‑call required.
• CRT credentials accepted.

Requirements

• Active RRT credential required; CRT candidates will also be considered.
• Active ACLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted); certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the start date.
• Minimum 1 year of adult respiratory therapy experience in an acute care setting.
• Must have worked in the specialty within the last 6 months.
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months.
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — no exceptions; Canadian SSNs are not accepted.
• One professional reference required (two required for candidates licensed in Florida or Missouri).
• License required if applicable.
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible.

Compensation

• Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation).
• Tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
