Job Summary

Respiratory Therapist, Respiratory Therapist Registered. Under the direction of a physician and by prescription, the Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities. The role serves all patient populations and patient care areas while supporting treatment assessment, equipment operation, physiological monitoring, and emergency response.

Job Details

• Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)-approved respiratory therapy program
  • Two years of experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT) credential
  • Applicable state licensure
• Additional Information:
  • Reviews prescriptions, assesses patient conditions, and determines appropriate respiratory therapy methods, treatment durations, precautions, and medication dosages.
  • Evaluates medical orders and clinical data to support patient treatment objectives.
  • Operates and monitors mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration equipment, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
  • Monitors vital signs, arterial blood gases, blood chemistry changes, and other physiological responses to therapy.
  • Performs bronchopulmonary drainage, breathing exercises, and pulmonary function testing.
  • Maintains patient charts with pertinent identification and therapy information.
  • Assists with transporting mechanically ventilated patients and responds to code situations.
