American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Day Shift Observation Unit position in Urbana, Illinois, within a Level 1 Trauma setting. Active Illinois RN licensure and Epic experience are required.

The role is a 13-week travel assignment with three 12-hour day shifts per week. Must have a minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, BLS certification, and the ability to work in a fast-paced trauma unit.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license required; temporary license accepted.
• Minimum of 1 year nursing experience.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Documented Epic charting experience required.
• Documented Level 1 Trauma experience required.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based Observation Unit on a medical floor.
• Serve an adult general medical patient population.
• Shift is 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, three 12-hour day shifts per week.
• Use Epic EMR; Epic experience is required.
• Provide assessment, planning, intervention, and documentation for a designated group of patients.
• Monitor IV sites every 4 hours and start new IVs as needed per policy.
• Maintain high documentation standards as evidenced by quarterly chart audits.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Day Shift Observation Unit position in a Level 1 Trauma setting, requiring Illinois RN licensure and Epic experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based Observation Unit on a medical floor
• Serves an adult general medical patient population
• Shift is 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, three 12-hour day shifts per week
• Uses Epic EMR; Epic experience is required
• 13-week contract assignment
• Responsible for assessment, planning, intervention, and documentation for a designated group of patients
• Must assess IV sites every 4 hours and start new IVs as needed per policy
• Maintains high documentation standards as evidenced by quarterly chart audits
• Expected to attend at least 5 of 6 staff meetings per year
• Must adhere to department policy regarding coverage, attendance, and documentation
• RTO (requested time off) may not exceed 7 days during the 13-week contract
• Returning travelers may not work more than 1 year consecutively at the facility and require a 6-month break before returning
• No travel partners accepted for this assignment

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license required; temporary license accepted
• Minimum of 1 year relevant nursing experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
• Documented Epic charting experience required
• Documented Level 1 Trauma experience required
• ASN required; BSN preferred
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates accepted)
