The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Room (ER) provides critical care to patients in urgent or emergent conditions. The RN works in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, delivering immediate care to patients suffering from injuries, illnesses, or trauma. They assess, triage, and treat patients in collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Triage and Patient Assessment: Perform initial assessments, evaluate patient history, conduct physical assessments, and collect vital signs.
  • Emergency Care and Treatment: Administer medications, perform wound care, provide emergency interventions like CPR, ACLS, and assist in resuscitation efforts.
  • Collaboration with Medical Team: Work closely with healthcare professionals, assist with diagnostic testing, and communicate patient status effectively.
  • Monitoring and Documentation: Continuously monitor patients, document assessments and treatments accurately, and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Patient and Family Communication: Explain diagnoses and procedures, offer emotional support, and advocate for patients.
  • Infection Control and Safety: Follow infection control protocols, maintain a safe environment, and respond to biohazard situations.
  • Crisis Management: Handle emergencies using critical thinking, prioritize care, and manage high-stress situations.
  • Patient Discharge and Follow-Up: Provide discharge instructions, educate on preventive measures, and coordinate follow-up care.
  • Teamwork and Mentorship: Collaborate with staff and act as a mentor or preceptor for new or less experienced staff.
