Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide hemodialysis treatment for outpatient ESRD patients per unit protocol.
• Monitor patient status, vital signs, fluid balance and treatment response.
• Manage vascular access care (fistulas/grafts) and safety considerations.
• Document in EPIC promptly and accurately.
• Collaborate with nephrology, nursing and support staff; coordinate care during floats.
• Educate patients on dialysis procedures, post-treatment care and infection control.

Shift is a 9-hour day, with flexibility to cover 8, 9, 10, or 12-hour shifts as needed. Work setting is a hospital-based outpatient dialysis unit serving ESRD patients. The assignment requires travel, with floating to St. Albans and Berlin as needed, and includes weekend (Saturday) coverage with no call requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide hemodialysis treatment for outpatient ESRD patients, adhering to unit protocols and physician orders
• Monitor patient status during dialysis, including vital signs, fluid balance, and treatment responses; identify and respond to alarms promptly
• Manage vascular access care (fistulas/grafts) and related patient safety considerations
• Perform accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EPIC) within the required timeframes
• Collaborate with nephrology, nursing, and support staff; coordinate care across floating assignments as needed
• Educate patients on dialysis procedures, post-treatment care, and infection control best practices
• Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and infection prevention standards; participate in routine unit activities and quality improvement initiatives

Requirements

• BLS certification (AHA)
• EPIC experience within the past 2 years
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Minimum 1 year of outpatient dialysis experience
• Prior travel experience preferred
• Ability to work in outpatient dialysis settings and to float to St. Albans and Berlin as required
• Saturday coverage required; no on-call duties
