Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Project Engineer I/II to join our Industrial team in Hastings, Nebraska. This role requires travel based on project needs and supports preconstruction, planning, buyout, management, and closeout activities across assigned projects.

The Project Engineer typically reports to the Project Manager and may supervise site personnel, focusing on schedule, budget, RFI handling, submittal reviews, and coordination using design tools.

Qualifications

• Industry related degree required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of construction project management experience preferred.
• LEAN principles experience is desirable.
• OSHA 30 preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Industrial construction experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organize, review, update, maintain, and post construction documents/drawings.
• Collaborate with project team to complete RFIs.
• Review submittals and project documents for accuracy against plans and specs.
• Assist in preparing inspections, compliance audits, and non-conformance logs.
• Manage material and equipment delivery status.
• Maintain and distribute accurate project logs.
• Draft scopes of work for subcontracts/purchase orders.
• Track subcontractor requests for change and draft change orders.
• Utilize virtual design tools to assist with project coordination.
• Obtain and manage closeout information and assist with warranty process.
• Travel and/or relocate to specified work assignments as needed.
