Job summary

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Welfare Assistant in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. The role supports Child Welfare Specialists, performs paraprofessional casework, schedules appointments, coordinates transportation, and assists in court-related activities as required.

Responsibilities include home visits, reporting findings, maintaining case documentation, coordinating services with providers, and communicating with clients and families to promote safety and well-being.

Qualifications

• Six months of clerical work, care for children in a licensed day care facility, sales, or public contact work.
• One year of clerical experience in a governmental or non-profit social services provider environment; substitute with 30 college hours.
• One year of clerical experience in a governmental or non-profit social services provider environment plus two additional years in a child welfare environment; substitute with 30 college hours.

Responsibilities

• Complete a full range of paraprofessional child welfare case management activities and support to Child Welfare Specialists, clients, and families.
• Schedule appointments for doctor visits, family visitations, court appearances, and other venues; arrange transportation for child(ren) and clients.
• Coordinate referrals to other program areas, service providers, and courts; assist in problem resolution and home visits to assess foster care placement as required by court or service plan.
• Interview clients and families and report findings that may affect medical, financial, tribal affiliation, and psychiatric care plans to assigned CWS.
• Perform general office duties, input case documentation, compile social and economic data, schedule meetings with clients and families.
• Advise clients of available child welfare services and resources; refer to community resources for assistance.
• Assist CWS in client meetings, coordinating activities with law enforcement, courts, and other entities; provide reports to courts.
• Assist clients in obtaining individualized service plans and advocate for services when needed.
