Radiology Tech I

Major Responsibilities
  • Competently performs basic and intermediate radiographic procedures, including general diagnostic and general fluoroscopic.
  • Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patients' understanding and address any questions or concerns.
  • Positions patients and selects exposure factors for various radiologic examinations, provides patients with radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods.
  • Identifies patient and labels images, compares requisitions to physician's orders to ensure exam accuracy, processes images ensuring quality of radiographs and calls back patients as necessary.
  • Assists, communicates and consults with the Radiologists.
  • Prepares and maintains records in accordance with regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, documenting billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served, and assesses data reflective of the patient's status to provide age‑specific care.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification
  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), to be obtained within 6 months.
Education and Experience
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • No experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Competent in radiology positioning and techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic radiation safety and radiology equipment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to stand/walk for majority of the day.

  • Lifts up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, 20 lbs. over the head, and carries up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Pushed/pulls with 30 lbs. of force.
  • Performs a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
  • Must have clear speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

  • Level 3 Trauma Center
  • Located outside of Racine, WI
  • COVID vaccine required
  • Beds: 2 diagnostic, 1 fluoroscopy; 3rd shift likely won't do fluoroscopy
  • Experience? 2 years
  • First‑time traveler? Yes, with strong background
  • Patient Types: Inpatient, Outpatient, ED, some pediatrics but mostly adults
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1
  • Required Certifications: BLS, ARRT (will need to obtain Wisconsin license)
  • Skills required: Chest X‑rays, long bone X‑rays, C‑arm, surgical patients, portable experience, fluoroscopy (limited)
  • Support on the Unit: Transport 7a‑9p, RT 24/7, Hospitalist 24/7
  • Charting System/Equipment: EMR – EPIC, Med Dispensing – Pyxis, PACS – McKesson (preferred), Portables – Canon‑Client, C‑arms – OEC, Diagnostic rooms – Dell with Canon plates
  • Floating: Throughout hospitals for portable, including OR and ED
  • Orientation: 2‑3 days based on comfort level
  • Other notes: Scrub Color – any; Parking – Free
Pay

Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
