Qualifications

Radiologic Technologist

Job Summary: Under the supervision of certified radiologists and following established protocols, Radiologic Technologists will perform procedures essential for accurate interpretation. Technologists are expected to assist radiologists as necessary and supervise student Radiologic Technologists. Maintaining excellent customer relations is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care and Safety: Responsible for the care and safety of patients during imaging procedures, utilizing age-appropriate care. Perform procedures for direct interpretation results while ensuring the correct written order is obtained. Efficiently manage time to meet quality, quantity, and timeliness expectations, while also assisting in the education of student technologists.
• Equipment Utilization: Efficiently use imaging equipment while minimizing repeat examinations. Emphasize cost containment when utilizing supplies.
• Patient Interaction: Prepare and instruct patients regarding imaging procedures and assist in obtaining informed consent as needed. Ensure patient understanding of procedures and provide discharge instructions to family members. Respond sensitively to the needs of both internal and external customers.
• Data Management: Ensure that correct orders, diagnoses, and clinical histories are accurately entered into the computer system. Maintain effective communication with radiologists regarding procedures, demonstrating professionalism in both verbal and written communication.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to departmental and safety policies and procedures. Practice good radiation protection and follow the established guidelines from governing organizations. Maintain radiation safety according to ALARA principles. Complete annual mandatory training and uphold licensure requirements, ensuring medical and sensitive information is kept confidential.

Skills and Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to perform and teach radiologic exams that yield diagnostic images.
• Familiarity with OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations.
• Experience operating radiologic equipment safely.
• Capable of using standard office equipment.
• O-arm and neuro OR experience is required. Will work in both the OR and on the floor as necessary.

Education and Certification

• Required Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Allied Health Professionals.
• Required Certification & Licensure:
  • South Carolina Radiation Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Radiographer Certification.
  • ARRT Radiography (R) Certification.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association.
• Preferred Certification & Licensure: N/A

Schedule Notes

This position requires a commitment of 13 weeks, with a schedule of Tuesday through Friday, working four 10-hour shifts from 0700 to 1730. There are call and holiday requirements. Experience with O-arm and neuro OR is essential.
