About The Position

Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Rad Tech Specialty: Imaging Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 7am - 3:30pm Experience: Entry level position License: Current ARRT Radiography Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: Excellent communication skills Ability to function independently and under pressure Excellent customer service skills Detail-oriented and capable of multitasking Description: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams according to department procedures. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to safely obtain quality diagnostic studies. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment and ingenuity for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up equipment to provide imaging services and positions patients for procedures. Works with students during their clinical rotation. Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data, and assesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows established procedures for the administration of contrast media. Ensures that all studies have proper patient identification and that right and left markers are utilized appropriately. Reviews radiographic images for clinically acceptable results. Responds to emergency situations and maintains life support equipment. Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed. Observes patient condition and evaluates situations for physician intervention as necessary. Verifies two unique patient identifiers and correct clinical order prior to performing procedures. Ensures patient privacy and comfort. Demonstrates competence in determining and applying appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies, and techniques based on patient age. Organizes schedule and priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time frames. Uses critical thinking skills and asks clarifying questions. Understands and demonstrates pre-procedural verification. Preps patients for procedures and demonstrates understanding of sterile technique when applicable. Maintains competency with venipuncture, where applicable. Adjusts technique to ensure patients receive the lowest possible dose of ionizing radiation while maintaining image quality. Reports any problems regarding malfunctioning equipment. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment according to infection control policy. Patiently and clearly explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients. Ensures that patients' concerns are satisfactorily addressed. Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees. Provides patients with preparatory instructions for procedures. Completes required documentation concisely and legibly. Maintains communication by reading email each workday and following through with assignments. Consistently produces high-quality images with appropriate collimation and positioning. Ensures equipment is operational by performing necessary checks before each use. Restocks linens and supplies, maintaining a clean and orderly environment. Transports patients, positions them, and assists with procedure tables. Conducts patient charging activities on the service day. Applies supportive and immobilization devices as needed. Willingly lends knowledge and assistance to others as needed. Performs clerical and support personnel duties when warranted. Keeps supervisor informed of responsibilities and any potential problems. Maintains individual productivity rates equal to other co-workers. Maintains compliance with regulatory standards. Retrieves and transfers images as necessary. Takes call when necessary. Performs any other duties as assigned.
