Job summary

Focus Staff currently has a client in Fort Washington, MD looking for a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). The traveling PTA will support a friendly, positive, and professional environment on a 13-week contract with a 5x8 shift pattern.

Qualified candidates must hold a PTA license, be able to travel, and pass drug/background screens. CPR/BCLS certification and good patient safety knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• Must maintain valid state PTA license.
• Must pass drug screen and background screening.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to company locations.
• Prefer medical background such as MA or LPN.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality therapy services by assisting the Physical Therapist with patient treatment.
• Follows required guidelines and documentation of prognosis, goals and response.
• Carrying out individually designed programs to maintain, improve or restore physical function.
• Assist with interventions for patient safety as necessary.
• Ensure safety and infection control in compliance with laws and standards.
• Maintain CPR or BCLS certification.
• Demonstrate communication skills and ability to follow directions.
• Respond to study participant inquiries with appropriate information.

Requirements:

• Must maintain valid state physical therapist assistant license.
• Must possess basic computer skills; intermediate skills preferred.
• Must possess therapy services knowledge, leadership and delegation skills and experience.
• Must pass company required drug screen and physical and background screening.
• Must maintain a valid drivers license and have the ability to travel to company locations.

Responsibilities:

• Physical Therapist Assistant provides quality therapy services by assisting the Physical Therapist with the treatment of patients in order to restore them to their prior level of function.
• The Physical Therapist Assistant also must follow required guidelines.
• Individually designed programs of physical treatment are carried out to maintain, improve or restore physical function and alleviate pain in patients; appropriate and timely documentation of patient`s prognosis, treatment, goals, and response; education to stay informed on treatments and techniques to benefit the patient; establish and maintain channels of communication with nursing team and therapist.
• Assist with appropriate interventions (such as oxygen therapy via standing order) as necessary for patient safety.
• Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.
• Perform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluation.
• Maintain current CPR or BCLS certification.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of patients.
• Demonstrate appropriate social skills including effective verbal and written communication.
• Demonstrate ability to follow direction.
• Respond to study participant`s procedural-related inquiries by providing appropriate information.
