Job summary

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) for an 8-week contract assignment in a locked behavioral health unit, night shifts. This position offers 36 hours per week and the opportunity to impact patients undergoing acute psychiatric care.

The role requires strong clinical skills, a focus on safety, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Start date October 16, 2026, with potential for extensions.

Qualifications

• Previous psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience preferred
• Strong assessment, communication, and crisis intervention skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced behavioral health environment
• Current BLS certification (if required by facility)

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care in a locked behavioral health unit
• Monitor and assess patients' mental and physical status
• Implement suicide prevention and patient safety protocols
• Administer medications and evaluate patient responses
• Support therapeutic interventions and treatment plans
• Document patient care accurately using the Orchid charting system
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient outcomes
