Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN for a telemetry/progressive care unit night shift role requiring a NM or compact RN license and at least two years of recent PCU experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a telemetry/progressive care unit (PCU) with more than 18 beds
• Patient assignments require expertise in telemetry monitoring and progressive care
• 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730), three shifts per week
• Epic EMR is used; prior Epic experience is preferred
• Floating between departments and nearby locations within 20 miles is required
• Provide direct patient care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, patient-centered care
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and according to protocols
• Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel
• Return travelers who were previously perm staff must have a one-year gap in employment before being eligible
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
• Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia testing will be administered onsite with one opportunity for retest if needed; failure to pass results in contract termination
• Orientation includes required onsite testing

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross required
• Minimum two years current experience in a telemetry/progressive care unit with 18 or more beds required
• Must have successfully completed at least one previous 13-week travel assignment
• Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
• Must pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia/Dysrhythmia (BCA) exam prior to or during first week of assignment
• Preferred certification: NIHSS
