Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced Pediatric ICU RN for a PICU position requiring PALS certification and a VA or compact RN license. The role involves rotating day and night shifts in a hospital PICU with a 1:2 patient ratio and regular weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities include critical care nursing across respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, neurologic, and GI care, with potential float to NICU/Acute Care Pediatrics. Epic charting is used.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required.
• Current certifications: BLS and PALS.
• Minimum 2 years PICU experience required.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Pediatric cardiac experience preferred.
• Trauma Level I experience preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• Experience with respiratory care including ventilator management, intubation assistance, BiPAP/CPAP, and airway care.
• Experience with IV therapy, central/arterial line management, and blood product administration.
• Experience with cardiovascular monitoring including CVP, hemodynamic monitoring, and dysrhythmia management.
• Pediatric dosage calculations and administration of emergency/vasopressor medications.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of a hospital environment.
• Rotating day (7:00-19:00) and night (19:00-7:00) shifts, 3x12 hours each.
• 1:2 patient ratio.
• Required to work 3 weekends per six-week schedule.
• Required to work every other holiday, including 2 out of 3 winter holidays.
• May be required to float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs.
• Uses Epic charting system.
• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients in the PICU, including respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, neurologic, and GI care.
• Must float within scope of practice as needed based on facility staffing requirements.
• First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience.
• Candiates with prior UVA Health employment as permanent staff or travelers must have at least 1 year of separation and leadership approval before being considered.
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this limit is reached.
• Up to 40 hours of RTO may be approved per contract, though no time off can be approved during the first 2 weeks.
• Local candidates are accepted for this position.
