- About Facility: Outpatient Clinic within Cabarrus – Concord, NC
- Department Information: 2 Linear Accelerators – Combined avg census 50-60 patients per day
- Minimum Experience required: 3 years post‑residency experience completed
- Background & Systems: photons/HDR/LDR/eclipse planning software/SRS
- First‑time traveler: Yes
- Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Adults only; all types of cancer
- High dose radiation (HDR): Vaginal Cylinders Only
- Prostate seed implant: Varian Variseed software
- Photons
- External beam patients
- SRS: MLC/Cones
- SBRT
Skills & Responsibilities
- Oncology background
- Performs QA on equipment as required
- Machine maintenance done daily/weekly/monthly
- Performs delivery of non‑standard, standard, and complicated treatment planning and techniques, including HDR, LDR, SRS, and SBRT
- Performs radiation surveys of treatment rooms
- Calibrates various therapy machines
- Linear accelerators – Varian TrueBeam
- Measures instruments against national standards and beam data for treatment planning purposes
- Familiar with guided radiation therapy, IT/chart checks/QA
- CT imaging – Philips
- Strong communication with interdisciplinary team
Professional Requirements
- Required License: CMP (Certified Medical Physicist – Therapy) through ABR (American Board of Radiology)
- Preferred Certifications: BLS, ACLS
- Driver’s License and/or insurance requirements as applicable
Placement Details
- Orientation: 5 days of orientation, 8‑hour shifts
- First day: Meet with manager, team lead (badge, login access, CBLs, etc.) and shadow another medical physicist
- Days 2‑5: Continue orientation
- Scheduling: No weekends, no call; Monday‑Friday 07:30‑17:30
- Holiday expectations: only scheduled when clinic is open; closed for major holidays
- Dress code: Business Casual
- Parking: Free
Compensation & Benefits
Job ID #26-06705. Pay package based on 8‑hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
