Job summary

Modoc Medical Center in Alturas, CA is seeking a Travel Pharmacist (PHARM) for an 8-week assignment starting 09/14/2026. The pharmacist will compound, dispense and review medications, supervise pharmacy staff, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in a retail setting.

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. Pay rate is $78–$84 per hour, with weekly pay and benefits through Astrya Global Medical Staffing for this temporary

Responsibilities

Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications
Reviews prescriptions issued by a Physician or other prescriber to ensure accuracy
Directs pharmacy workers engaged in mixing, packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals
Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage
Maintains quality assurance and security procedures for controlled substances and hazardous waste
Enters data to maintain pharmacy files, charge system and inventory
Instructs interns and pharmacy personnel on responsibilities per state/federal law
Maintains third party Rx system awareness and resolves issues promptly
Reports prescription errors and adheres to policy on medication incidents
Develops relationships with physicians and healthcare professionals
Pursues ongoing training and continuing education in pharmacy topics
Manages customer interactions and ensures confidentiality and service quality
Maximizes sales and controls expenses in the retail pharmacy
