Qualifications

• Must possess a valid pharmacy license.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent pharmacy experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to enter a minimum of 40 orders per four-hour shift.
• Knowledge of pharmacokinetics and appropriate dosing for various patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Consult with and advise administration, medical staff, and hospital personnel on quality, regulatory, and risk issues.
• Interpret medication orders and compound and dispense medications and other pharmaceutical preparations in compliance with legal, ethical, and professional standards.
• Supervise technical support staff and assist in coordinating and implementing pharmacy activities.
• Provide patient care support for all departments, focusing on patients aged 18 and older, including geriatric patients.
• Participate in educational programs for hospital personnel, ensuring the dissemination of relevant drug information.
• Assist other pharmacists and technicians in routine duties as necessary.
• Exercise professional judgment in providing therapeutic and drug information to patients and healthcare professionals.
• Review patient profiles to ensure appropriate and safe drug therapy, preventing therapeutic duplication and significant drug interactions.
• Ensure proper medication dosing by interpreting pharmacokinetics and modifying doses as needed.
• Maintain security and proper handling of medications, including controlled substances.
• Prioritize work effectively to address urgent and standard medication orders, ensuring timely delivery.
