The RT will provide comprehensive respiratory care to pediatric patients, work nights on 12-hour shifts, and cover a 36-hour minimum weekly schedule with a travel-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist Registered (RRT) with state licensure.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Experience with pediatric respiratory care is preferred.

Job Summary

Respiratory Therapist Registered, RT PEDS Durham. Provides comprehensive respiratory care to pediatric patients with minimal supervision and within the scope of professional licensure. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, developing treatment recommendations, operating respiratory equipment, supporting procedures, monitoring patient status, and educating patients and families.

Job Details

• Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Current professional licensure as a Respiratory Therapist Registered; Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Additional Information:
  • Provides intensive respiratory care and medically prescribed patient transport.
  • Evaluates patients, recommends treatment plans, explains procedures, and provides discharge education.
  • Operates invasive and noninvasive ventilators, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
  • Performs chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography, pulmonary function studies, and 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKG) testing.
  • Assists with bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, chest tube placement, and other respiratory care procedures.
  • Performs tracheostomy care, arterial punctures, endotracheal tube insertion and removal, and mechanical ventilation setup and monitoring.
  • Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) guidelines.
  • Documents treatments and patient responses, communicates clinical information during shift handoffs, and maintains accurate respiratory care records.
  • Supports respiratory equipment maintenance, laboratory testing procedures when applicable, and quality-control activities.
