The Respiratory Therapist provides intensive respiratory care, patient education, treatment planning, and medically prescribed patient transport with minimal supervision. The 13-week assignment involves operating and monitoring respiratory equipment, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and documenting patient responses.

Job Details

• Schedule: Nights; 12-hour shifts; minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Professional respiratory therapy license; cardiopulmonary resuscitation competency according to Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) guidelines.
• Additional Information:
  • Evaluates patients and recommends respiratory treatment plans.
  • Operates invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
  • Performs suctioning, chest physiotherapy, oximetry, capnography, pulmonary function studies, arterial punctures, and tracheostomy care.
  • Performs 12-lead electrocardiograms and basic arrhythmia recognition.
  • Assists with bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, chest tube placement, and other respiratory care procedures.
  • Maintains and monitors mechanical ventilation equipment and assists with equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Documents treatments, patient responses, assessments, test results, and shift-to-shift clinical communication.
  • Communicates with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding the effectiveness of respiratory therapy.
