Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Stepdown RN for a 13-week travel assignment at a facility in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Job Overview
A Stepdown Registered Nurse provides care to patients transitioning from intensive care to medical-surgical or general inpatient units. The role involves frequent monitoring, specialized nursing interventions, medication administration, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, patient-centered care.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN
- Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)
- Current ACLS Certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
- Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) Certification
- NIHSS Certification
- Other certifications and licenses may be required
Essential Work Functions
- Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments, focusing on cardiac care
- Prepares equipment and assists physicians during cardiac-related procedures
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients
- Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of cardiac status and response
- Responds to life-saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols for cardiac emergencies
- Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned telemetry patients
- Initiates patient education plans focused on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team for comprehensive care of telemetry patients
- Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
- Performs other duties within scope of practice as assigned
Required Essential Skills
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication
- Good reading and writing in English; ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions
- Basic PC skills
