Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Stepdown RN for a 13-week travel assignment at a facility in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Job Overview

A Stepdown Registered Nurse provides care to patients transitioning from intensive care to medical-surgical or general inpatient units. The role involves frequent monitoring, specialized nursing interventions, medication administration, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, patient-centered care.

Required Qualifications

• One year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN
• Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)
• Current ACLS Certification (AHA/ARC)

Preferred Qualifications

• Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) Certification
• NIHSS Certification
• Other certifications and licenses may be required

Essential Work Functions

• Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments, focusing on cardiac care
• Prepares equipment and assists physicians during cardiac-related procedures
• Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients
• Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of cardiac status and response
• Responds to life-saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols for cardiac emergencies
• Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned telemetry patients
• Initiates patient education plans focused on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team for comprehensive care of telemetry patients
• Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
• Performs other duties within scope of practice as assigned

Required Essential Skills

• Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication
• Good reading and writing in English; ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions
• Basic PC skills
