Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Stepdown for a travel nursing job in Kansas City, KS. The PCU RN will care for patients requiring close monitoring but not ICU-level care, utilizing monitors and life-support equipment as needed. 13-week assignment with 36 hours per week and 12-hour day shifts.

Requirements include ACLS, BLS and 1–2 years of acute care experience; additional certifications may be required. The role involves lifting and maintaining composure in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• ACLS and BLS certifications required.
• 1–2 years of recent acute care experience preferred.
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care; stabilize critical cardiac patients.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications; report adverse reactions.
• Monitor and adjust equipment; interpret and record electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective actions when monitoring shows adverse symptoms.
• PCU RNs should be able to stand and walk for long periods and lift up to 20 pounds; may lift up to 50 pounds.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with patients of all ages.
