Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN with a CA license and 2 years of critical care/PACU experience for a day shift assignment. The position requires CA RN license, BLS/ACLS/PALS, EPIC charting, and strong airway management skills.

You'll work 4x10-hour day shifts from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM in an acute care hospital, providing pre- and post-operative care, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, and ensuring patient education and smooth discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (AHA or ARC only).
• Minimum 2 years recent clinical experience in critical care or PACU in an acute care setting of similar size and complexity.
• Minimum 2 years experience with airway management.

Responsibilities

• PACU unit within an acute care hospital setting.
• Cares for pre- and post-operative surgical patients, including pediatric patients.
• Manages patients with cardiovascular, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, neurological, renal, and endocrine conditions, including sepsis and carcinoma diagnoses.
• Day shift schedule, 4x10-hour shifts from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• Requires airway management and central line/post-procedure care experience.
• EPIC charting system used.
• Provides individualized nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs.
• Develops and coordinates an interdisciplinary plan of care, managing directly or through delegation to nursing team members.
• Recognizes and intervenes in life-threatening conditions and communicates with charge nurse and physician as needed.
• Provides patient education and discharge instructions using the electronic health record.
• Demonstrates leadership by applying infection control principles, patient rights standards, and professional practice standards.
• Completes unit-specific orientation and competencies in a timely manner.
• Accepts local candidates at the local rate within a 50-mile radius.
• Returning employees must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler.
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract.
• Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
