Job summary

TotalMed is seeking a travel nurse RN in Orthopedics for Tyler, Texas. This 13-week assignment involves nights, 12-hour shifts, and a 36-hour work week as a travel staffing role. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of acute care experience and BLS certification.

Responsibilities include bedside assessment, medication administration, wound care, IV starts, and patient education. Travel RNs must be prepared for a fast-paced MedSurg environment, with lifting up to 50 pounds and the ability to stand for

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• 1–2 years of recent acute care nursing experience.
• MedSurg/orthopedics nursing skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for pre- and post-op patients and others as assigned.
• Administer and document medications, monitor for adverse reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs and assist physician during exams.
• Educate patients and families about procedures, care plans and discharge instructions.
• Participate in discharge planning and education as prescribed.
