Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with Level I trauma experience for a high-acuity surgical unit in Philadelphia. Requires PA or compact RN licensure, BLS, and minimum 2 years OR experience.

Travel nurses welcome. Responsibilities include supporting General/ Neuro/ Orthopedic/ Vascular and Transplant services on a 14-room unit, with 1:1 patient ratios, day shift 4x10h, and Cerner charting.

Qualifications

• Active PA RN license or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required, TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience required
• Level I and Level II trauma experience required
• Strong General OR experience required
• Total joint, Neuro, Transplant, Vascular and General Surgery experience required
• Experience with high-acuity and trauma surgical cases including gunshot/stab wounds and MVA with multiple injuries
• Previous Charge RN experience required
• Prior travel nurse experience required
• Teaching hospital, community hospital and LTAC experience preferred
• Skills in vascular procedures including AAA repair, AV fistula repair, carotid angioplasty/stenting, carotid endarterectomy, and femoral-popliteal bypass
• Skills in neuro procedures including ALIF, anterior cervical fusion, craniotomy, kyphoplasty, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion and XLIF
• Skills in orthopedic procedures including arthroscopic surgery, spinal fusion and total joint replacement

Responsibilities

• Operating Room unit with approximately 14 rooms
• Serves adult and geriatric patients
• Supports General OR, Neuro, Orthopedic, Vascular and Transplant surgical services
• Common procedures include appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic surgery, thyroidectomy and Whipple procedures
• Neuro cases include spinal fusion, cervical and lumbar procedures, craniotomy and laminectomy/discectomy
• Orthopedic cases include total hip and knee replacements, fracture procedures and spine cases
• Vascular cases include carotid procedures, AV fistula repair, femoral-popliteal bypass and abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours from 8:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• Weekend call required, no regular weekend shift requirement
• On-call required, approximately 6 weekday call shifts and 2 weekend call rotations
• Floating required based on facility needs
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Part of a major health system offering a broad surgical service line
• Block scheduling accommodation requests may be submitted but cannot be guaranteed
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius at a local rate differential
• PA fingerprint clearance and labs required shortly after signing, which may involve travel
