Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week day shift assignment in Virginia. Candidates must hold an active VA or Compact RN license and have at least 2 years of OR experience, with trauma/neuro/ortho spine exposure preferred.

EPIC experience is required, with accelerated or 2-day training if not previously trained. This travel position includes a comprehensive benefits package, housing assistance, and licensure reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience required.
• Level II Trauma center experience preferred, including trauma, neuro, and ortho spine cases.
• Ortho skills preferred.
• EPIC experience required; travelers must attend accelerated or 2-day EPIC training class unless previously trained at the facility within the past 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Operating Room unit in a hospital setting.
• Day shift schedule: 4x10-hour shifts, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
• On-call requirement of 3-4 call shifts every 6 weeks, 8 hours each.
• On-call staff must reside within 30 miles or 30 minutes of the facility.
• Floating may be required in rotation with client staff per facility policy and Joint Commission standards.
• Uses EPIC OP Time (OR) charting system.
• Facility is smoke and nicotine free.
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31) unless a qualifying exemption is approved.
• Up to 7 hours of non-billable training modules required during orientation, varying by specialty.
• Holiday coverage expected during the assignment.
• RTO requests should be minimal, ideally avoiding full calendar weeks off, and are approved at manager discretion.
• Previous VHC staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler.
