Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Oak Lawn, Illinois. The assignment runs 13 weeks with 40 hours per week, typically days shifts, and requires 1-2 years of acute care experience as circulating/scrub RN and potentially RN first assistant.

BLS and ACLS are required, with additional certifications possibly needed. Travel RN duties include bedside care, medication administration, patient education, and acting as liaison within the OR team.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years recent acute care experience as circulating or scrub nurse, and potentially RN first assistant.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required before assignment.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds; standing/walking for long periods in OR.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications, report adverse reactions to treatment.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients’ family and operating team.
• Ensure correct procedure is performed on the right patient.
• Initiate patient education per physician plan for medications and home care.
