Job description

American Traveler seeks an OR Surgical Tech First Assist with independent vein harvesting experience and CV surgery background for a hospital operating room position.

Requirements

• BLS certification required
• CFSA certification through CAAHEP, CST through ABHES, or NBSTSA credential required
• EVH certification through NSAA or ABSA required
• Minimum of 3 years of cardiovascular (CV) surgery experience required
• Must be able to independently perform vein harvesting procedures
• Prior vein harvesting experience required for consideration
• License required if applicable

Responsibilities

• Operating Room unit with First Assist and Surgical Tech responsibilities combined
• 10-hour day shift schedule, approximately 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• Weekday on-call coverage from end of shift through 7:00 AM the following morning
• Weekend and holiday on-call coverage from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM the following day
• First Assists will also cover Surgical Tech duties as needed throughout the week
• Provide direct support to surgeons during surgical procedures
• Position and prep patients prior to surgery
• Ensure clear surgical site visibility using instruments such as retractors and sponges
• Assist in controlling bleeding during procedures
• Close surgical sites using sutures or staples and dress wounds
• Collaborate with surgeons and surgical team members on post-operative care
• Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
