Job summary

Critical Connection, inc is seeking a Hand Therapist (OT) to join our team for an 18-week assignment, with 40 hours per week. This role specializes in evaluation and treatment of the hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity in outpatient settings, with options for travel or local placement.

Ideal candidates will have orthopedic rehabilitation experience, strong manual therapy skills, and the ability to fabricate and fit custom splints.

Qualifications

• Licensed OT in the state of practice.
• 1–2 years of hand therapy or outpatient orthopedic experience.
• CHT certification preferred or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat upper extremity conditions including post-surgical cases, fractures, tendon injuries, nerve injuries.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on physician referrals and findings.
• Fabricate and fit custom orthoses/splints for various diagnoses.
• Provide manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and modalities to improve function and reduce pain.
• Educate patients on injury prevention, home exercise programs, and recovery expectations.
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Hand Therapist to join our team. This role specializes in the evaluation and treatment of conditions affecting the hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity. The ideal candidate will have experience in orthopedic rehabilitation and a passion for helping patients regain function, mobility, and independence.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients with upper extremity conditions including post-surgical cases, fractures, tendon injuries, nerve injuries, and chronic conditions
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on physician referrals and clinical findings
• Fabricate and fit custom orthoses/splints for various diagnoses
• Provide manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and modalities to improve function and reduce pain
• Educate patients on injury prevention, home exercise programs, and recovery expectations
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed

Qualifications

• Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) in the state of practice
• Certification as a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) preferred (or eligibility/interest in obtaining)
• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in hand therapy or outpatient orthopedic setting preferred
• Strong knowledge of upper extremity anatomy, biomechanics, and rehabilitation techniques
• Experience with splint fabrication highly preferred

• Strong communication and patient education abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Experience in outpatient or clinic-based settings
