Assignment Overview

Seeking a skilled PACU RN for a travel contract in a fast-paced, flexible Perioperative Care Unit. This role includes coverage across Pre-Op, PACU Phase 1 & 2, and Endoscopy recovery. Ideal for RNs with solid recovery experience and adaptability across perioperative areas.

Unit Details

• Unit Size: 14 total bays (3 PACU bays + 11 interchangeable for Pre-Op, Endo, Same-Day Discharge)
• Patient Population: Adult and pediatric (older ortho trauma and some younger dental peds)
• Common Procedures: Ortho (joints, trauma, sports med), General, GYN, C-section, Endo, occasional neuro/spine, plastics
• Nurse:Patient Ratios: Per ASPAN standards
• EMR: Epic
• Orientation: 35 shifts with preceptor; unit norms and system values included
  
  

Qualifications

• License: Registered Nurse current and unencumbered
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• Experience:
• Minimum 2 years PACU experience preferred
• Will consider strong inpatient background + 1 year PACU
• Must have Phase 1 recovery experience
• Open to first-time travelers
• C-section experience not required; Endo experience optional
  

Staffing & Support

• Charge RN on duty (typically without patient assignment)
• Assistant Nurse Manager (MF)
• 2 CNAs MF supporting HUC and room turnovers
• RNs expected to assist with cleaning/turnovers and general chores
• Respiratory Therapy available as needed
  
  

Shifts & Scheduling

• Shifts: 8- or 10-hour shifts; rare 12-hour assignments
• Start Times: Between 6:00 AM 8:00 AM
• No self-scheduling
• On-Call:
• Weeknights: 6 PM 7 AM, ~45 nights/month
• Weekends: 24-hour call rotation (Fri 6 PM Mon 7 AM)
• Holidays: May include on-call
• Response Time: 30 minutes (must remain within range)

Floating

• Not considered floating travelers are expected to work across pre-op, PACU, pre-/post-Endo areas
  
  

Additional Info

• Radius Rule: 50 miles must live outside 50 miles of facility; permanent address required at submission
• Written Confirmation Required: RN must provide written notice that they:
• Have researched housing
• Approve the pay package
• Understand and commit to the assignment
• Will sign the offer within 24 hours
