Start Date: June 16 (Start dates are not flexible)

Radius Rule: Must reside 100+ miles from facility

Unit Profile
  • Bed Count: 90 beds (Double occupancy)
  • Nurse-Patient Ratios:
    • Days: 1:5–6
    • Nights: 1:6
  • Shift Times: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM / 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Minimum of 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Call Requirement: Low Census On-Call
  • Floating Expectations: May float to Med-Surg, stable/low acuity patients in ICU, RDU, and Foothills Clinic RDU
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Clinical Details
  • Certifications Required:
    • Required: BLS
    • Preferred: ACLS
  • Experience Requirements:
    • Minimum of 2 years RN experience
    • Minimum of 1 year in specialty
  • Common Patient Diagnoses:
    • Pneumonia, COPD, Radiation therapy patients, Acute Kidney Injury (AKI), post-op cases (e.g., laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy)
  • IV Drip Management:
    • RNs do not titrate drips
    • Drips administered: Heparin, Lasix (non-titrated)
  • Charge Nurse: Present each shift; may carry a patient load depending on staffing
  • Support Staff: PCA support with a ratio of 8–12 patients per PCA
  • Respiratory Support: BiPAP and care for stable trach patients
  • Telemetry Monitoring:
    • Telemetry unit with dedicated monitor techs
    • Travelers are not required to interpret telemetry

    • 1 day New Employee Orientation (NEO)
    • 1 day Clinical Education / EPIC Training
    • 1 unit-specific floor orientation day
