The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Med-Surg unit is responsible for providing direct patient care in a fast-paced environment, assisting with the recovery of patients requiring medical and surgical interventions. The RN will collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality, compassionate care, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and well-being during their hospital stay.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment:
    • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and psychological needs.
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on assessments and physician orders.
  • Patient Care:
    • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed, ensuring safety and adherence to protocols.
    • Monitor vital signs, lab results, and progress, adjusting care plans as needed.
    • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including mobility, hygiene, and nutrition.
    • Provide pre- and post-operative care and educate patients on procedures, medications, and recovery plans.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team regarding care plans and condition changes.
  • Patient Education:
    • Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment options, and discharge plans.
    • Provide instructions on medication management, lifestyle changes, and follow-up care.
  • Documentation:
    • Accurately document assessments, interventions, progress, and outcomes.
    • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Safety & Infection Control:
    • Follow infection control and safety protocols to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
    • Respond promptly to emergencies or complications.
  • Supervision & Mentorship (if applicable):
    • Assist in mentoring new staff or nursing students.
    • Serve as a resource for junior staff in clinical decision-making.
