American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN to join the Med/Surg Float Pool in Montgomery, Alabama, on night shifts with Cerner or Epic EMR familiarity.

Requirements include at least 18 months of Med/Surg and/or ICU nursing, active Alabama license, BLS and NIHSS, and ability to interpret telemetry strips.

This travel assignment runs 13 weeks, 36 hours per week, 12-hour nights (7:00 pm–7:00 am). Perks include travel and licensure reimbursements, day-one benefits, and a supportive hospital team.

Qualificações

• Active AL or compact RN license.
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications.
• At least 18 months of Med/Surg and/or ICU nursing experience.
• If ICU, Cerner EMR experience is required.
• Ability to interpret telemetry strips and confirm readings every 4 hours.

Responsabilidades

• Work across Med/Surg units including Trauma Surgical, Neuroscience, Oncology, Orthopedics, Urology, and CDU.
• Patient populations include trauma, general surgery, vascular, neuro, oncology, ortho, urology, and general Med/Surg.
• Patient ratios typically range from 1:5 to 1:6.
• Float between units (Med/Surg to ICU, etc.).
• Utilizes Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell, and Spacelabs monitors.
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 pm–7:00 am on a 4-week cycle.
• Every other weekend or four weekend days per month.
• No on-call responsibility.
• Telemetry is interpreted by RNs and confirmed per 4-hour readings.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Home unit assigned on first day of orientation.
• Orientation includes up to 24 hours classroom and 24 hours on unit.

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN to join the Med/Surg Float Pool on night shifts with a requirement of at least 18 months of Med/Surg or ICU experience and familiarity with Cerner or Epic EMR.

Responsibilities

• Work in a large hospital across various Med/Surg units including Trauma Surgical, Neuroscience, Oncology, Orthopedics, Urology, and Clinical Decision Unit
• Patient populations include trauma, general surgery, vascular, neuro, oncology, ortho, urology, and general Med/Surg cases
• Patient ratios typically range from 1:5 to 1:6 depending on the unit
• Expected to float between like units (Med/Surg to Med/Surg, ICU to ICU, etc.)
• Utilizes Cerner EMR system (experience preferred), Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am within a 4-week schedule cycle
• Every other weekend or four weekend days per month are required
• No on-call responsibility
• Telemetry is monitored by techs, but RNs must interpret and confirm strip readings every four hours
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates will be assigned a home unit on their first day of orientation
• Orientation includes up to 24 hours in classroom and 24 hours on unit for new or returning travelers (out of facility 1+ years)
• Support on units includes CNAs (1:6 ratio), a charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, hospitalist coverage, and telemetry techs
• Scrub color is any color of choice
• Mandatory holiday coverage includes one major and one minor seasonal holiday as per policy
• Time off requests must avoid blackout dates; up to 7 days off may be pre-approved excluding blackout periods
• Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius from the facility

Requirements

• Active AL or compact RN license
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications
• At least 18 months of recent Med/Surg and/or ICU nursing experience
• If experience is strictly ICU, Cerner EMR experience is required
• Ability to interpret telemetry strips and confirm q4 hour readings
• Skills required vary by unit and may include trach care, wound care, IV skills, medication administration, chest tubes, NGT/PEG care, blood draws from central lines, foley, drains, and chemo administration (if certified)
• No prior permanent employment at the facility within the last 6 months
