  • Shift : 12-hour night shift

Job Summary

The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse plays a vital role in providing compassionate, evidence-based care for expectant mothers and newborns, ensuring safe deliveries and optimal patient outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Patient Assessment : Evaluate physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, and medical review.
  • Care Plan Development : Create and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Therapeutic & Diagnostic Procedures :

IV therapy, wound / incision care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection.

Promote patient rights and provide education tailored to family learning readiness.

  • Relationship-Based Care :

Deliver culturally sensitive and personalized care based on patient preferences.

Maintain open communication and foster shared decision-making among healthcare professionals.

  • Delegation & Resource Management :

Assign tasks to non-RN staff in compliance with nursing regulations.

  • Professional Growth & Leadership :

Mentor new staff and nursing students while engaging in ongoing education and research.

  • Quality & Compliance :

Uphold hospital policies, regulatory guidelines, and evidence-based practices.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education :

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (Required)

  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) Certification or AWHONN Certification (Required)

Float Requirements

  • May be assigned to any CommonSpirit location within 60 miles of the original assignment.
  • Float assignments may include duties outside of the original job scope as per hospital policy.
