Responsibilities

• Float across Med/Surg and Emergency Departments as needed.
• Titrate drips (Pitocin, insulin, magnesium) and monitor patients.
• Read fetal strips and document per MEDITECH; adhere to quality metrics.

Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) Float, providing care in a hospital setting. This role involves supporting obstetric and neonatal patients, with responsibilities including interpreting fetal strips, following AWHONN guidelines, and float duties across Med/Surg & Emergency Departments. The position requires adaptability, critical thinking, and effective communication skills.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, with minimum 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid RN license; BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification; 2 years of relevant clinical experience; eligibility to submit licenses; location within 50 miles of the facility
• Preferred Qualifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications
• Float: Float rotation may be required to Medical-Surgical and Emergency Departments as needed; permitted to float within hospital
• Additional Information: RNs are required to titrate drips such as Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium. They must read and interpret fetal strips, follow quality metrics, and float to Med/Surg & ER departments. Orientation includes 3 shifts. The unit emphasizes adaptability, critical thinking, and strong communication. Scrubs are maroon, provided by the facility. The role involves working every other weekend and holiday, with on-call or standby dependent on staffing needs. RTO requests need to be made upfront; additional RTO requests may not be approved. The hospital's charting system is MEDITECH.
