Job Summary:
Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) registered nurse position in Madison, WI. The role involves providing expert care for adult patients with cardiac conditions, including management of dysrhythmias, vasoactive rates, and post-procedure monitoring. The position requires a commitment to patient safety, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and proficiency in advanced cardiac care practices.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, with every other weekend and some holidays required. The minimum scheduled hours per week are 36.
• Required Qualifications: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications from the American Heart Association, Epic Electronic Medical Record experience, three years of recent acute care RN experience, and inpatient RN experience in adult cardiac or telemetry units.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Intermediate Care Units, community hospital experience, and trauma level I or II experience.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, WI RN or compact RN license.
• Skills: Cardiac telemetry, complex arterial line management, blood product administration, invasive monitoring (arterial blood gases, central lines), management of vasoactive and cardiac drips, abnormal rhythm interpretation, patient assessment and management of cardiac post-procedural care, use of rapid response teams, wound care, and tracheostomy care.
• Patient Ratios: 4 patients per nurse during days, nights, and weekends.
• Additional Information: The role is based at a Magnet-designated facility ranked among the nation's leading hospitals. The unit cares for intermediate and general cardiology patients with support from interdisciplinary teams. The unit will expand to include external pacemaker management and broader cardiac surgical populations. Traveler must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting, with assessments focusing on lethal rhythms and cardiac interpretation. The position involves required floating as needed within the facility.
• Location & Parking: University Hospital, Madison, WI. Parking permit required through UW Transportation. Transportation options include bus, park & ride, and private parking.
