Magnet Medical is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Tacoma, Washington.

Additional Details

Shift: 12H Mids

Description: Off Campus ED projected to be busy (ambulance traffic). ED Beds: 10, potential go up to 17. (similar to parkland layout). Location: 4312 Pacific Ave South East Lacey, WA 98503.

Will have a Midshift (12p-12a) RT at this location only. RN take over respiratory care when RT is out. General Information Beds: 10, total 20 treatment spaces. Experience: 2 full years of true ER experience (any trauma level); CAP 5 years minimum.

First-time traveler: Yes. Will be assigned a primary OCED, but the expectation when needed is to float to other OCED sites as needed and primary site may change depending on needs. Minimum night staffing varies per location usually 4 RN 1 LPN, but can be 2 RN 1 LPN.

Patient Types: Neonates, Geriatrics, 25% Peds, Walk-in traumas, all types of patients ranging from cardiac, neuro, GI, respiratory, psych, frequent drop off GSWs. Will have to provide care to intubated patients; training for ventilator and bipap will be provided as there are no RTs onsite, RN manage vent/bipap.

Covid PPE: N95s, PAPRs, Goggles. Patient Ratios: 1:4, Fast track 1:6, team nurse (LVP, NP).

Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIHSS, TNCC.

Skills required: Strong ED experience, strong customer service, ventilator class (BiPAP) will be provided during onboarding, knowledge of medication administration (mix own meds), chest tubes, central lines, strong IV skills. Will be required to do charge (facility will train if needed).

Support on the Unit: LPN Ratio: 2:1, can take low acuity assignments as well as assist with procedures and medication administration (within scope). Charge nurse: does take partial pt assignment, is free in the afternoon to float and give breaks. EST/Phlebotomy: Assist draw blood, but majority is RN draw or LPN. No RT- RN will manage Vents. No Pharm- will mix meds under supervision via video conference.

Charting System/Equipment: EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis. Floating: All other OCEDs; CAP will only float if resident is not there (e.g., sick, in class). Mid shift floating (will pay for travel time). Will call traveler if you have to float before shift starts.

Traveler Telemetry Competency: Required and must be completed and passed prior to start. SimpliFi Compliance is responsible for grading this exam.

Scheduling: Weekend rotation: try to rotate every other, but not guaranteed. Negotiable. Shifts: 12 hrs - hire for a range, not a specific start time. Days: start times can vary from 0700-1100. Mids/Eves: start times vary from 11a-1500p (11a, 12p, 13p). NOC: start time is 1500-1900. 6-week schedules.

Block scheduling not guaranteed (will be assigned an existing open FTE position). Can we approve time off: 5 days ok to approve; more than 5 days request to manager. Holiday Expectations: Negotiable.
