Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN CVOR for a travel assignment in Richmond, Virginia. The role focuses on open heart procedures, scrubbing and supporting the cardiovascular OR with bypass, valve replacements and robotic-assisted surgeries using the da Vinci system.

The schedule is days, 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week, for a 13-week assignment starting 10/19/2026. Requires BLS and at least 1 year of OR cardiac experience; da Vinci/ECMO experience preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required; RN with OR experience in cardiac cases.
• Minimum 1 year in OR assisting with bypass, thoracic surgeries, ECMO initiation, and robotic procedures.
• Proficiency in scrubbing for open heart surgeries.
• Preferred: experience with da Vinci system and thoracic procedures such as VATS lobectomy.

Responsibilities

• Scrub for open heart surgeries and provide intraoperative support.
• Assist surgical team with cardiovascular procedures including bypass and valve replacements.
• Maintain sterile field and ensure instrument readiness for complex cases.
• Respond to on-call requirements and travel with assignment as needed.

Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Specialist in open heart procedures is responsible for providing expert surgical assistance within the cardiovascular operating room environment. The role involves scrubbing for a variety of complex cardiac surgeries, including bypass, valve replacements, aortic dissection repairs, TAVR procedures, and thoracic surgeries utilizing da Vinci robotic technology. The position is located at a hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, with a minimum of 40 hours per week, starting on 09/07/2026
• Required Qualifications: Certification in basic life support (BLS); minimum of 1 year of experience in operating room assisting, specifically with cardiac cases requiring bypass, thoracic surgeries, ECMO initiation, and robotic-assisted procedures; proficiency in scrubbing for open heart surgeries.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with da Vinci surgical system, ECMO procedures, and thoracic surgeries such as VATS lobectomy and mediastinal lymph node biopsy.
• Additional Information: The role entails ability to take call, with the unit operational hours from 06:30 to 15:00. Call starts at 15:00 when assigned, with weekend call coverage on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday when scheduled. The candidate must adhere to hospital-provided scrubs uniform and unit-specific policies.
