Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a NICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Bakersfield, CA. The RN will provide specialized care to critically ill neonates in the NICU, manage life-support equipment, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes family-centered care and adherence to hospital standards. Requirements include 1 year NICU RN experience, valid California RN license, and current BLS/NRP certifications.

Qualifications

• 1 year of recent experience as a neonatal intensive care RN
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification
• Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Preferred: Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification (RNC-NIC)
• Preferred: PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor critically ill or premature neonates and document changes
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per NICU nursing techniques
• Perform neonatal assessments including vitals, weight, and screenings
• Operate NICU equipment like ventilators and CPAP machines
• Assist with life-saving procedures such as umbilical line placement and intubation
• Educate and support parents on neonatal care and developmental needs
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during exams and procedures
• Develop individualized care plans with the care team
• Adhere to infection control and regulatory standards
• Collaborate with neonatologists and therapists to optimize outcomes
• Adhere to safety protocols and perform other duties as assigned
