Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Marion, Illinois. The Neuro MS/TELE unit requires strong Med Surg/TELE experience and neuro assessments.

Unit features a 22-bed Neuro unit with 1:4 ratios; travel nurses work 12-hour nights, 48 hours weekly, with every other weekend and holiday. Must have IL RN license and relevant certifications; EPIC experience preferred.

Qualifications

• IL RN license active (or temp IL license accepted).
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years Med Surg/TELE, plus 1 travel assignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for Neuro MS/TELE patients with strict neuro assessments.
• Chart thoroughly in EPIC and coordinate care across units.
• Be prepared to float to medical unit as needed and handle overflow.
• Work 12-hour nights, 48 hours per week, with every other weekend/holiday.

UNIT: Neuro MS/TELE RN Clinical Interviews

Required Certs: Must have current active IL RN license (will accept an active temp IL License). AHA BLS, AHA ACLS and NIHSS.

Minimum Experience REQUIRED: Two years of strong Med Surg/TELE, 1 travel assignment. Neuro experience required

Float Requirement: Could float to the medical unit

On Call/Call Back Requirement: N/A

Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend. Every other holiday.

Charting Experience: Recent EPIC experience required.

Patient Population: Neuro and Neuro-Surgical patients – CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, cerebral angiogram. General medical

Skillset: Will also need to be comfortable taking medical overflow patients. NIHSS/dysphagia screen/strong Neuro assessments, basic tele interpretation, strict I's & O's/straight cath/Foleys, intitate/titrate heparin gtts., blood/blood product administration/venipuncture/blood cultures, NG tubes, indwelling drain management, stable gtts. (i.e. Protonix, Lasic, etc.). Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills!

Unit Information: 22 bed Neuro unit - ratios are 1:4 unless they have a high medical patient census they will put two nurse in a 1:5 ratio.

this unit sees a lot of spine/back surgeries and strokes. they only take non titratable drips NO Amio or Cardizem Hard worker, resilient and manages change well, social candidates
