Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Level II trauma center in New Mexico. The ideal candidate holds an NM or compact RN license, is BLS certified (AHA), and has at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience; ADN required.

You will work on a 43-bed MS unit serving adults 18+, with 1:5 to 1:6 patient ratios. Shift is 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 36 guaranteed hours weekly, with floating, weekends, Cerner EHR, and no call.

Qualifications

• Active NM or compact RN license required.
• BLS certification required (AHA).
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience; 2 years preferred.
• ADN required.
• Med/Surg experience preferred.
• Charge nurse experience preferred but not required.
• Oncology skills helpful but not necessary.
• Must achieve at least a 3.2 overall rating on skills checklist.
• Area-specific competency exam required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Medical Surgical unit within a Level II trauma center hospital setting.
• 43-bed unit caring for adult patients (18+).
• Patient ratios of 1:5 and 1:6.
• Common diagnoses include cirrhosis, sepsis, pneumonia, respiratory illnesses, wounds, and CHF.
• Uses vital signs machines, bladder scanners, IV pumps, thermal imaging, lifts, and tube feeding pumps.
• Cerner EHR system used.
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• 36 guaranteed weekly hours.
• Weekend work expected at least 2 shifts per month per facility policy.
• Floating required based on facility needs.
• No call requirements.
• Provide direct patient care on a busy medical surgical unit treating a wide range of acute conditions.
• Block scheduling may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Work under the supervision of unit management.
• Facility is a 198-bed, Level III trauma center that also receives Level I, II, and III trauma cases by air transport.
• Hospital offers services including medical, surgical, rehabilitation, childbirth, cancer, nephrology, pediatric, and behavioral health care.
