Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Calais, Maine. The position is a 13-week assignment with 36 hours per week, 12-hour night shifts, and travel employment status.

The MedSurg RN will conduct patient assessments, document findings, provide education to patients and families, and support discharge planning in a fast-paced acute care setting. Requirements include BLS, ACLS, and 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years recent acute care experience.
• BLS and ACLS required.
• Travel RN status.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications, reporting adverse reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and assist physician during examinations and treatments.
• Educate patients and families on procedures and post-care.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education.
