Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel assignment in Austin, Texas. The RN will perform bedside care for Med Surg/Telemetry patients on 12-hour night shifts, with a 36-hour work week, in a fast-paced travel setting.

The ideal candidate has 1 year of acute care experience, BLS and NIH certifications. Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, wound care, and discharge education for diverse surgical patients.

Qualifications

• BLS certification
• NIH certification
• 1 year of recent acute care experience

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for pre- and post-op patients
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications and report adverse reactions
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs
• Prepare equipment and aid physician during examination and treatment
• Educate patients and families about procedures and care
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plan
