Job summary

TotalMed RN in West Islip, NY is seeking a travel nurse RN for Med Surg on a 13-week assignment paying on a 36-hour week with 12-hour night shifts. This travel position requires one to two years of acute care experience and a current BLS certification.

Expect bedside care, med administration, dressings, IVs, patient education, and discharge planning. Candidates should be prepared for a fast-paced environment and accommodating heavy lifting.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of recent acute care experience.
• Current BLS certification.
• Active RN license preferred (as per standard travel RN requirements).

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for pre- and post-op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Educate patients and families about procedures.
• Assist in discharge planning and patient education.
