Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a Med Surg Travel RN for a 13-week assignment in West Islip, NY. This travel nursing role requires 36 hours per week, with 12-hour night shifts, and a fast-paced Med Surg environment.

The RN will perform patient assessments, administer medications, and educate families while supporting discharge planning and ongoing care. BLS is required, with additional certifications often needed prior to starting.

Qualifications

• RN license required in the relevant state.
• BLS certification required for assignment.
• Additional certifications may be required before starting.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients; pre- and post-op included.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications; report adverse reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and assist physician during examinations and treatments.
• Educate patients and families; participate in discharge planning.
