Job summary

TotalMed RN in Lawrence, Kansas is seeking a travel nurse (Med Surg RN) for a 13-week assignment. The role requires 36 hours per week, with 12-hour night shifts, and offers a travel nurse opportunity in a busy Med/Surg unit.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of acute care experience, BLS certification, and are prepared to handle bedside patient care, documentation, and patient education. This travel position includes a tax-free stipend and benefits as part of TotalMed RN's travel program.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• 1 year of recent acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications and report adverse reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and assist physician during examinations and treatments.
• Educate patients on procedures and post-discharge care.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plans.
